Typically, the LOC Method works for type 4 curls. Type 4 curly hair tends to be more porous, meaning it is permeable to water and/or products, and it soaks up moisture easily.

Now you might be asking: “How do I know if my hair is porous?” Here’s a quick and easy test: Take a strand of your hair and drop it into a glass of water. The faster it sinks, the more porous it is. If it floats, your hair is less porous and may be weighed down by the LOC Method.
